Abercrombie & Fitch's Style Sense Wears Thin With Some Shoppers

fiscal: any accounting period of 12 months

The once popular Abercrombie & Fitch now faces a major issue concerning the future of their sales. During this America's recent recession, many major chains have faced closure of stores all of the country, or the actual company has gone out of business. But America's general youth have yet to be directly impacted by the recession and their shopping habits remain the same. With consistent consumer habits, most clothing chains run successfully and profitably as they follow the latest trends. Abercombie & Fitch, on the other hand, has not evolved its fashion to conform with the newest style of clothing. With a stagnant, decade-old style, Abercrombie & Fitch faces major sale declines and the likeliness of remaining as a top chain company dwindles more and more.

I predict that unless Abercrombie & Fitch adjusts to the newest trends that our consumer youth follow, they will soon disappear into the group of chains who have fallen victim to the recession. I hold this view because I agree with what the author said about Abercrombie & Fitch once being the ideal uniform style a decade ago. But as time goes on, fashion will continue to evolve; if A&F wants to thrive and survive economically, they have to evolve as well.
